Equestrian Culture and Horse Racing in Japan - [archived version via "Thewaybackmachine." The Equestrian Culture and Horse Racing in Japan exhibit opened in September of 1996. The horse has played an important part in Japanese history since antiquity. Fighting horseman often became clan leaders based on the prowess of their mounts. When dignitaries from the mainland visited the ancient Japanese court, gifts of horses were often exchanged.

The Aberdeen Bestiary Project - A Bestiary is a collection of short descriptions about all sorts of animals, real and imaginary, birds and even rocks, accompanied by a moralising explanation. The Aberdeen Bestiary (Aberdeen University Library MS 24) is considered to be one of the best examples of its type.
